Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data we collect when you use Cortex, why we collect it and how we protect it. Cortex can process health-related data (EEG brainwaves, heart rate and HRV), so we recommend reading that section carefully. Cortex is provided by MotiveX Intelligence Anonim Şirketi.

Data we collect

When you use Cortex we collect the following data:

  • Email address, name and account id (account sign in)
  • Your cognitive test results and cognitive profile
  • EEG brainwave data from a connected headband
  • Heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV)
  • Your training history, social activity and challenges
  • Usage analytics events
  • Push notification token
  • Your app settings and preferences (stored on device)

Health and biometric data

If you pair an EEG headband, we process the brainwave (EEG) data from the device and fold it into your cognitive profile. Through Health Connect (Android) or Apple Health (iOS) and a BLE heart-rate sensor, we read your heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV). This health data is used only to give you cognitive measurement and feedback; it is never used for advertising and is not sold to third parties. You can revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings.

Why we use your data

We use your data to create and manage your account, score the tests and build your cognitive profile, fold EEG and heart signals into that profile, track your training and progress, improve the app, keep it secure and send you notifications.

Services we use

The app uses the following third party services:

  • Firebase Authentication (account sign in)
  • Sign in with Google and Sign in with Apple (authentication)
  • Cloud Firestore (test, EEG, heart and profile data)
  • Firebase Analytics (usage statistics)
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (notifications)
  • Health Connect and Apple Health (heart rate and HRV)
  • Bluetooth (EEG headband and BLE heart-rate sensor connection)

Advertising and purchases

Cortex shows no ads and contains no in-app purchases or subscriptions. We do not use an advertising identifier.

Storage and transfer

Your data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure and may be processed on Google's servers, which can be located outside your country. In that case we apply the safeguards required by KVKK. We keep your data only as long as it is needed to provide the service.

Children's privacy

Cortex is not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age that applies in your country. We do not knowingly collect data from a child under that age.

Your rights

Under KVKK and GDPR you can access, correct or delete the data tied to your account. You can delete your account from the app or by writing to us. See the Delete Account page for details.
